How to Disable the Floating Thumbnail on Mac Screen Shots
Tired of the little preview window in the corner? Here is how to make screenshots save to your desktop instantly.
Whenever you take a screenshot on a Mac, it stays in the bottom-right corner for a few seconds. If you find this annoying, you can turn it off.
1. Using the Screenshot App
- Press
Cmd + Shift + 5. - Click on the Options menu button.
- Under the “Show Floating Thumbnail” section, uncheck it.
2. Why keep it?
The thumbnail allows you to drag the image directly into an app (like Slack or an Email) without saving it to your desktop first.
3. Instant Save
With it disabled, your screenshots will appear on your desktop (or your chosen folder) the exact millisecond you trigger the shortcut.
