How to use Xbox Game Bar for Screen Shots on Windows 11
Not just for gamers—the Game Bar is a built-in tool that can record your screen and take snapshots of any app.
The Xbox Game Bar is built into Windows 11 and works in almost any application, not just games.
1. Opening the Game Bar
Press Win + G to open the overlay.
2. Taking a Shortcut Capture
You don’t even need to open the menu. Just press:
Win + Alt + PrtSc
You will see a notification that your capture was saved.
3. Where are they saved?
By default, Game Bar captures are saved in a special folder:
This PC > Videos > Captures
4. Why use this over Snipping Tool?
Game Bar is better for full-screen applications and games where the standard Snipping Tool overlay might cause the app to minimize or flicker.
